That big red building in Chicago's Skyline, the CNA Center, was illuminated in (RED) last night in honor of World AIDS Day and will remain so all week. An AIDS ribbon and the words "Fight AIDS" will be illuminated along the side of the building.
Chicago along with nine other cities across the country: Los Angeles, Boston, Columbus, OH, San Francisco, Baltimore, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and Providence illuminated buildings in their respective cities to raise awareness to AIDS and to promote the (RED) brand that was created by the musician Bono and has raised more than $140 million for the Global Fund to benefit their HIV and AIDS programs in Africa.
In addition to the landmark lightings, (RED) partners including Starbucks, the Gap and Dell will make special added contributions to the Global Fund from purchases made on and during the week of World AIDS Day.
Starbucks will contribute 5 cents for every handcrafted beverage purchased in participating U.S. and Canada stores on December 1; the Gap will contribute 1% of all revenue generated in every store across the country on December 1; and Dell will be doubling their contributions on (PRODUCT)RED items for the full week of November 26 - December 2.
Did anyone get to see the CNA illuminated?
