Earlier this week we heard the devestating news that the nations oldest LGBT publication, Washington Blade, along with it's sister publications were shut down.
But that doesn't mean they're down for the count!  I just found out that the employees are attempting joining force and creating an entirely new publication DC AGENDA with a premiere issue scheduled for this Friday, November 20.
Here's an excerpt from their site:
The staff of the paper remains united and our mission to enlighten and inform remains steadfast. We wil launch a new publication that will bring you what we have always worked to deliver - gay news and information that is critical to our Metro DC LGBTQ Community.

A modest premiere issue of the DC AGENDA will be distributed across D.C. on Friday, November 20, 2009 and will also publish on the DC AGENDA's new website.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of community support and interest. If you would like to be part of the new venture, please use our contact page to get in touch or send us an email. And, if you would like to contribute financially, you can do so here. The staff is currently working on a volunteer basis; financial support will be used to cover printing, distribution, equipment and other related costs.
If you would like to help support the new paper, you can purchase "virtual bricks" to help them become a reality.  Bricks can be purchased for as little as $1.00.
