A 10-year-old Arkansas boy has refused to recite the Pledge Of Allegiance to the US flag until the LGBT community has equal rights.
Will Phillips, a student at West Fork School District in Washington County in Arkansas remained seated on October 5th while the rest of his class stood for the pledge. The substitute teacher tried to get Will to stand, but he wouldn't budge. His reason: "I really don't feel that there's currently liberty and justice for all." He didn't think that the country was standing behind the pledge and it's true meaning.
The kid isn't gay, his family isn't gay, but they have gay friends and he's been to Pride events and he recognizes that gay people are treated differently -- why can't the rest of the world see that?
After the jump check out a video from CNN of Will and his father explaining why he did what he did.
