How do you explain Redmoon Theater? Is it performance art? Is it mass hysteria? Is it music, is it acting, is it dancing? Is it storytelling, is it strange? Does it make you scratch your head? It does all that AND MORE!
There is no easy way to explain Redmoon Theater, and especially their current production being staged in Lincoln Park near Belmont Harbor. What you didn't know there was a theater there? Surprise! There isn't one, but that doesn't stop Redmoon. They've set up a temporary stage to present 'Spectacle 09: LAST OF MY SPECIES THE FEARLESS SONGS OF LAARNA CORTAAN" and boy do they present.
We headed out to catch the show this past Sunday night and were dazzled. The show started at 7PM just as it was getting dark and set the lakeside ablaze (figuratively of course) with costumed actors playing cardboard instruments while presenting "Laarna Cortaan's concert".

If you've always wanted to experience Redmoon Theater, but haven't had the courage to follow through and do it, now is your chance. Spectacle 09 will definitely have you scratching your head while you're tapping your toes and dancing along with the energetic actors. The contraptions/mechanical devices in this show are spectacular and you won't want to miss the aerial ballet performed at the end of an industrial extension ladder (think firetruck ladder without the firetruck).
The show is ONLY running through this weekend and tickets are only $15 a person - $16.50 online, but worth the service fee because you're guaranteed admission - they sold out at Sunday's performance.
Make sure that you take something comfy to sit on, even though there are bleachers, seating is limited or you can catch a spot on the grassy "orchestra seats."
