A recent HIV vaccine study in Thailand has show to cut the risk of becoming infected with HIV.
The first time ever that any type of experimental vaccine has shown to prevent the infection of HIV!!
The vaccine is a combination of two previously unsuccessful vaccines, but together they showed that they 'cut the risk of becoming infected with HIV by more than 31 percent in the world's largest AIDS vaccine trial of more than 16,000 volunteers in Thailand' based on an article over at the Huffington Post.
This is the biggest step ever in finding a vaccine to prevent the spread of HIV. Researchers had become concerned recently through many failures that perhaps a vaccine would not be found.
The article goes onto to say that daily 7,500 people worldwide are infected with HIV and that in 2007 2 million died from AIDS. 'Even a marginally helpful vaccine could have a huge impact,' the article states!
