On Saturday, August 15, you should meet at Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) at 1PM to show the world that Kissing is not a bad thing!
You'll be in good company because there will be simultaneous Kiss-in's in more than 35 cities across the country even Canada is joining in. All of the big cities are holding events, but interestingly there are events scheduled in places like Hot Springs, AR, Athens, GA, Little Rock, AR, Parkersburg, WV and Madison, WI.
This is another "grass roots" campaign brought about by two bloggers, David Badash, from New York, and David Maillous, from Boston and Join The Imapct, a group that formed when Prop 8 was raised on the ballot in California last year. When was the last time you did protested something, or made a stand about something? Can you think of a cause better than this? And you can do it with the one you love.
You've got to stand up for yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you. If you think that you should be able to kiss whomever you want, where ever you want - then I'll see you in front of Cloud Gate on Saturday!

*sigh* if only...
Come on out and join us, you could pass out "Candy Kisses" to passersby! Or who knows, you might meet someone else who just happens to be on their own that day.
Wow, that's... actually very optimistic and pleasant-sounding! I think I'll do that, thanks :)
What kind of public kissing are we talking about? Pecks on cheeks? Little lip smacks? I'm all in favor of those. But once a tongue comes out in public, it's not cute anymore. Holding hands, hugging, even public snuggling are fine. I have no problem with PDAs in general. But slurpy face sucking in view of others? Too much.
@Chicagofish - that's a great question because honestly I don't want to look at that kind of PDA either - regardless of whether it's boy-on-boy, girl-on-girl or even boy-on-girl.
I think the overall message that the group is trying to send is that it's ok to show affection wherever we want to. I'm sure it's going to be a lot of lip smacking and pecking but I have no doubt there will be some people who want to go full force with the lip locks!
I guess we'll have to wait until Saturday to see what happens!
The Illinois Family Institute is warning people to avoid areas so as not to be subject to this public spectacle. (http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=640856) Who knew in it's first year, the Great National Kiss In would already be lauded as a spectacle? Congratulations to David Badash and David Mailloux.
(By the way, would someone please let the Illinois Family Institute that members of the LGBT community have families, too? I am sure it would come as a great surprise to them).
Now THAT is a protest I could get into. Lip locks for all! :-)
Come on down Lakeview Greg, I'm sure the view will be amazing!
