Cloud Gate becomes set for Great Nationwide Kiss-In

More than 50 people gathered in the plaza surrounding Cloud Gate during what seemed as one of the hottest days of the year with one thing on their minds - kissing!

Saturday afternoon marked the Great Nationwide Kiss-In where LGBT couples from around the country gathered at local public venues to send a message that "Kissing is Good" after three gay couples have recently been arrested for kissing in public.

The local 'Kiss-in' was organized by Join the Impact Chicago and even warranted a "warning" from the Illinois Family Institute that told parents to guard their children from such displays.  I'm excited that IFI actually linked directly to my article, and the author even took a stab at answering my rhetorical questions about being allowed to kiss.  I love it when hate groups love me : -)

Speakers from Join the Impact led the event with a speeches to get the group rallied up as Pride flags waved and banners flew announcing that among other things "Every kiss begins with GAY"

As passers-by read the banners, looked at the flags and listened in on the speakers it was interesting to see that some people just didn't care while others stopped to ask questions about what was going on.  From what I observed there was no violence, no one hurled words and the event went off without incidence.

  • Well, whatever the cause or the celebration, CloudGate is the ideal setting. For which our old grisly Mayor can take some big credit. So much so, that I recommend unrelenting Tribune critic John Kass hold his next birthday party there...!
