Posi+ive Ambush at Andersonville's SoFo Bar is the newest HIV+ Social Event to hit Chicago.

I just found out about one of Chicago's newest HIV+ social events - Posi+ive Ambush taking palce on July 30 and needed to tell you all about it.

Although HIV is part of our daily lives, it's still difficult for some people to feel as though they can keep on living.  There are many "bar nights" for HIV+ people to attend and it's a great way to meet new people, but all of them are labeled as an HIV+ Party.

Posi+ive Ambush imagines a different monthly poz group event at a different location, where they "ambush" the bar and make it their own.  Posi+ive Ambush is taking it's lead from the current trend of turning straight bars gay and turning it on it's ear!

Although HIV is part of our daily lives, it's still difficult for some people to feel as though they can keep on living.  The way their differentiaing themselves from the likes of Guerrilla Gay Bar is that they actually have a few rules:
• Wear black, red or white to identify one another.
• Some people are out about their status, while others are not. Simply respect the differences.
• Ambush=Safe word. You see someone you like, say "ambush" to let them know you're poz. Likewise, if someone comes up to you and says "ambush" respond, "ambush" to let them know you're poz too.
