A "tweet" Valentine's Day craft
Not all Valentine’s Day treats have to involve a sugar rush (and those little conversation hearts taste kind of gross anyway). If you are looking for a more natural take on Valentine’s Day inspired crafts, check out my craft column in this month’s Chicago Parent Magazine. We made heart-shared backyard bird feeders as a little Valentine’s... Fall in love with nature (and each other) at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Musuem's Family Valentine's Day Dance

Fall in love with nature (and each other) at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Musuem's Family Valentine's Day Dance
I've never been a big Valentine's Day person and my husband and I never really focused too much on this (totally made up, commercial, cheesy) holiday much before we had kids. But ironically, now that we have little ones, the day has become a bigger deal for us. Valentine's Day is mostly fun for kids really, isn't it? At least at our house, that is how we celebrate it. I think is is possible to say a love you without conversation hearts or those limited-edition Hershey's Kisses with the pink wrappers...

For families with young children, Valentine’s Day is a time to focus on love, friendship and affection — all good things that you want your kids to... Read more »

Get your dancing shoes on for the Chicago Winter Dance Festival at Millennium Park

February really leaves me with a “What do to? What do to?” feeling. I know that there are lots of great events taking place all over town — but I lack the motivation to get out there and take advantage of them. I need something new and different — and when I heard about this... Read more »
