Twinkle Twinkle Little One Grand Opening Party (this is something to see my friends)

Twinkle Twinkle Little One Grand Opening Party (this is something to see my friends)
There are many places to buy baby furnishings and gifts in the greater Chicago area. But they are not all created equal. I wish that I could go back and tell myself (as a first-time mom) to shop at Twinkle Twinkle Little One. I made many, many mistakes when I looking to outfit my nursery when I was expecting my daughter in 2004. Rachel Glasson, owner of the two Chicago-area Twinkle Twinkle Little One locations would have been a great resource to me as I was investing large sums of money on very girly, babyish pieces of furniture and baby gear in anticipation of my daughter's arrival. Rachel and her staff would have been able to help me select items that would have been great in my baby's nursery but also could have easily transitioned to other rooms in my house once my babies outgrew them. She would have advised that I not buy everything in pink (because my future children may be boys -- which turned out to be the case). Bottom line: Rachel and her Twinkle Twinkle Little One staff can help you make smart choices in terms of nursery, registry and gift purchases. And they have a price point that will work for you...

And now I go back-to-school shopping

And now I go back-to-school shopping
August is not back-to-school shopping time. Yes, the stores tell you that August is the time that you need to stock up on new everything for your soon-to-be-school-bound kiddos. Every single one of them needs new: shoes, fall jackets, long pants, long sleeve shirts, sweaters or hoodies, winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves. And then of course they also need new school shoes, new gym shoes, rain boots and of course new snow boots. After doing lots of August shopping in yeas past, I've realized that my kids do not need 80% of these items before the first day of school. In fact, they will end up wearing their summer clothes through most of September (save for one or two chilly days here and there). Plus, they grow so fast that their sizes can literally change in just a matter or a couple of months. The time to shop for back-to-school is now, not August...

Sprout San Francisco to open in Chicago

Sprout San Francisco to open in Chicago
I am lucky to live in Wicker Park, one of the best shopping neighborhoods in the city. Of course, I don't really have a ton of time to browse boutiques and I usually have three kids (and six grubby, curious hands) with me so we don't tend to do a lot of shopping together in the 'ol neighborhood. BUT from time to time I need a new baby present or a gift for a kiddo's birthday party and I have fantastic local options. I used to frequent Grow Modern Kids for eco-conscious baby gifts and gear (until it shuttered last fall). Happily, Sprout San Francisco  is going to be opening its doors on April 21 in the same space at 1943 W. Division...
