Pumpkin Palooza taking place at the Chicago Flea MKT on October 6th

Pumpkin Palooza taking place at the Chicago Flea MKT on October 6th

There are a lot of festivals in Wicker Park these days. We love to munch tacos from NOSH on Saturdays. Now we can wander down the block to see what's going on with DOSE. But we've also come to really love checking out the Chicago Flea MKT once a month in the Pritzker parking lot.

On October 6th from 10 a.m. to 50 p.m., Chicago Flea MKT will gather some of Chicago’s most Spooktacular artisans for a Pumpkin Palooza! The event will also feature clothing, jewelry, accessory, vintage vendors, and a pumpkin-decorating contest. ...

Instead, you can bring your family to a pumpkin farm in Michigan where you can pick the perfect pumpkin in a proper setting (complete with pony rides!).... Read more »

Apples up on top (once you start, you cannot stop)

Apples up on top (once you start, you cannot stop)
You've likely heard that the apple crop in the Midwest is a mess this year right? That means that the annual family trip to a Michigan apple orchard may not happen this year (from what I gather, most orchards don't have many apples left for picking at this point). Inspired by our love for all things apple, we made a bushel (not really) of yarn apples this year for our September craft story in Chicago Parent Magazine. ...

Ford’s son kicking it in the corn pit at Konow’s Corn Maze. Today, I am pleased to welcome my blogging buddy Shannon Ford to Wee Windy City. A Day at Dinges Farm

Last weekend, we headed up to Michigan to find our perfect pumpkins (and pet goats, have a hayride, and play in a corn maze). We spent the morning at Dinges Farm in Three Oaks. Dinges is a perfect spot for a fall day trip. It has all of the necessary pumpkin farm trappings, but without... Read more »

A few words on pumpkins, apples, and why I haven't posted here in a week

Oh, hey there. Didn’t mean to step out on you for a whole week. Sorry about that! I partly “blame” my kids who seem to be continuously sick since school started back up. But I’ve also been super busy writing another blog here on ChicagoNow called School’s In! School’s In! is a blog all about... Read more »

The Wee Weekender for October 10-12

Looking for something to do for the long holiday weekend? I am thinking scarecrows, fall leaves, and cozy forts.St. Charles Scarecrow Festival.
