There are a lot of festivals in Wicker Park these days. We love to munch tacos from NOSH on Saturdays. Now we can wander down the block to see what's going on with DOSE. But we've also come to really love checking out the Chicago Flea MKT once a month in the Pritzker parking lot.
On October 6th from 10 a.m. to 50 p.m., Chicago Flea MKT will gather some of Chicago’s most Spooktacular artisans for a Pumpkin Palooza! The event will also feature clothing, jewelry, accessory, vintage vendors, and a pumpkin-decorating contest. ...
A word of pumpkin advice for you all: Don’t buy your kids pumpkins from a dollar store parking lot in the city. It is just depressing and un-fall-like. Instead, you can bring your family to a pumpkin farm in Michigan where you can pick the perfect pumpkin in a proper setting (complete with pony rides!).... Read more »
Another street fest, you say? Seriously. Yes. Another one. But the weather is perfect this weekend and the whole family will have love this event. St. Alphonsus Parish is hosting their popular Oktoberfest this weekend. This is our parish and my kids look forward to this event every single year. Sunday is Kinderfest and that... Read more »
You've likely heard that the apple crop in the Midwest is a mess this year right? That means that the annual family trip to a Michigan apple orchard may not happen this year (from what I gather, most orchards don't have many apples left for picking at this point).

Sometimes I like to take my “city mice” out to the country for a change of pace. I love our urban lives, but I also want my kids to understand that food grows in the ground and appreciate different lifestyles. I bet you do too, right? Today, I am thrilled to welcome Kristen Holub, a... Read more »
Guess who really knows what kids like? The Chicago Children’s Museum. No big surprise there, right? These folks are professionals when it comes to kiddie fun. CCM recently reached out to me with some ideas for fall family fun. I wanted to pass them along to you in the event that you are in need... Read more »
Ford’s son kicking it in the corn pit at Konow’s Corn Maze. Today, I am pleased to welcome my blogging buddy Shannon Ford to Wee Windy City. When Shannon emailed me last week to tell me why she thought Konow’s Corn Maze was an excellent destination for Chicago families, she made my day. That is... Read more »
Last weekend, we headed up to Michigan to find our perfect pumpkins (and pet goats, have a hayride, and play in a corn maze). We spent the morning at Dinges Farm in Three Oaks. Dinges is a perfect spot for a fall day trip. It has all of the necessary pumpkin farm trappings, but without... Read more »
Oh, hey there. Didn’t mean to step out on you for a whole week. Sorry about that! I partly “blame” my kids who seem to be continuously sick since school started back up. But I’ve also been super busy writing another blog here on ChicagoNow called School’s In! School’s In! is a blog all about... Read more »
Looking for something to do for the long holiday weekend? I am thinking scarecrows, fall leaves, and cozy forts.St. Charles Scarecrow Festival. Scarecrows aren’t for everyone, but if your kids think they are cool (and not terrifying), head out to St. Charles for their 24th annual scarecrow festival. Event highlights include live entertainment, a petting... Read more »
