Have you heard about Donna? Today is HER day. She is the sweet daughter of fellow Chicago Now blogger Mary Tyler Mom. You can read all about her short but amazing life here. And if you want to get to know Donna's mom and her incredible gift for storytelling, I encourage you to read this post (it is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I've ever read).
Donna died of pediatric cancer. The loss of this beautiful child is so sad and unimaginable. Donna's parents have devoted themselves to raising funds for pediatric cancer research in their daughter's name. So they created Donna Day, an effort to draw attention to the need to raise money to save children from pediatric cancer.
On March 29th, they are hosting a fundraising event through St. Baldrick's to raise money for pediatric cancer research. You can support this event by donating here.
But this is about more people than just Donna. I want to introduce you to someone else. This is my nephew Finn. He never met Donna. But even at eight years-old, Finn knows the pain of cancer because one of his buddies lost a sibling to pediatric cancer.
Last year, Finn raised a very respectable amount of money and shaved his cute little head at a St. Baldrick's event. And he is fundraising again this year in anticipation of another head shaving. You can support Finn's fundraising efforts for St. Baldrick's here.
