Got a little foodie at your house? Someone who loves to don an apron and pint-sized chef hat, grab a whisk and whip up a batch of something yummy? Indulge your future Thomas Keller in a real-life, grown-up cooking experience taking place during the upcoming “Epicurious Entertains Chicago" culinary event taking place in Chicago the weekend of May5-6, 2012.
The weekend-long event is happening at the Chicago Illuminating Company with select events benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The editors at Epicurious have convened a group of Chicago’s renowned chefs, sommeliers and mixologists as they host this first-ever local event. The two-day experience has something for everyone -- including your kiddos. On Saturday, May 5 from 10am-1 pm, Chicago kiddos can participate in "Cooking with Kids." Epicurious editor-in-chief Tanya Steel and Purple Asparagus chef (and buddy of mine) Melissa Graham will provide young chefs, ages 2-12, hands-on lessons in healthy, kid-friendly meals, as well as cookie, apron and herb pot decorating. Tickets are $25 for one adult and two kids.
Of course, the event includes lots of other adults-only highlights that frankly sound pretty darn amazing. You can check out the full schedule and purchase tickets on the website. If you are interested in the Cooking with Kids event, use the promo code KIDS20 (one ticket includes admission for one adult and two kid -- pretty good deal).
