As money seems to literally be flying out of my bank account as I tackle my very long holiday gift list, I find myself looking for ways to take advantage of free or low-cost holiday activities. You too? The great news is that there is certainly no shortage of free or inexpensive things to fill our holiday calendar. Riding the CTA with Santa? Check. A magical evening at Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo? Wouldn't miss it. Christmas caroling at "The Bean" in Millennium Park? Can't wait.
But my absolute favorite free holiday event is the Dance-Along Nutcracker taking place at the Cultural Center this Sunday, December 4th. We've attended this event for the past four years and we plan to be there again on Sunday. This event offers an opportunity for your little sugar plum fairies to dance alongside professional ballerinas to music performed by a live orchestra.
It is awesome.
And it is totally free.
Don't miss it.
If you are interested it some other fabulous, free holiday activities, check out my article in the Holiday edition of Chicago Parent's Going Places Magazine. I've got some event and activities and ideas for you -- as well as some fun and inexpensive things you can do at home.
Am I missing any of your free (or almost free) holiday family faves? Tell me about them in the comment.
