A real-life Skid Steer joins the Skyline Exhibit at the Chicago Chlidren's Museum

What the heck is a Skid Steer, you ask? I wasn't entirely sure myself. And having seen it in person now, I still can't tell you exactly what it does. But I can tell you that kids (especially little boys) find it totally fascinating.

Just in case the Skyline Exhibit (where kids can construct their own structures using real materials) wasn't cool enough, now visitors to the Chicago Children's Museum can see what is it like to sit in the driver's seat of an actual Skid Steer. This is a real-life, actual size piece of equipment (which has obviously been kid-proofed and emptied of all fluids and sharp things).  But it is real -- and I think that kids are definitely drawn to things that they know are authentic.

Be sure to stop by and check it out yourself next time you are at the Chicago Children's Musuem.
