A couple of weeks ago, I had the most action-packed morning of family activities that I've had in a looooong time.
Boy, did we have fun! We all needed a nap afterwards.
I gathered together my winning team (which consisted of my three kids, my sister Megan and my 16 month-old neice Olivia) and we set off for an adventure in the Western Suburbs.
Our day begin at the Morton Arboretum where we were each assigned our vehicle. We totally lucked out and got a Chevy Suburban. I loved this car -- and were it not for the fact that I could never parallel park it in the city, I would be inclined to make this my next new vehicle purchase.
We begun our quest on the absolutely beautiful Morton Arboretum grounds. We made it through the maze and played in the children's garden. Then, we returned to our vehicles and searched for hidden treasure (snacks , drinks, coloring books and crayons) before heading out to a really cute playground and water park in Lisle. After a quick swimsuit change and an hour or so of splishing and splashing, we hopped back into our Suburban and made out way to the DuPage Children's Museum.
This was our first time at the DuPage County Children's Museum and we absolutely loved it. This place was absolutely packed, but my kids loved exploring every inch of the two floors of creative play space. After we had had our fill of fun, we joined the other Family Quest participants for a well-deserved lunch (all of that playing makes you hungry!).
A big thanks to all of the folks at GM who made this fun, family day possible. They do great things over there (including their fab Our Town, Our Heros program). You can visit the Driving the Midwest site to see more fun pictures and videos from the day. We can't wait for next year's Family Quest! We are totally there.
