Family Must-do: The Maple Syrup Festival at the North Park Village Nature Center

metalspile.jpg

One of my very favorite family activities is taking place this weekend -- The 28th Annual Maple Syrup Festival at the North Park Village Nature Center.

This wonderful FREE family event is a chance to get outside (yes! outside! finally!) and explore while learning about the magic of maple syrup. Visitors can see how the trees are tapped, watch the sap boil down and then sample the maple syrup. Other activities include storytelling and nature hikes. The adjacent farmer's market features just-made pancakes with maple syrup. Delish.

If you've never visited the North Park Village Nature Center before, this is a great time to go. You will be amazed by this natural oasis right in the middle of Chicago. This is a wonderful outdoor space for your little urban-dwellers.

The event takes place on Saturday, March 20th and Sunday, March 21st from 10:00 am until 3:00 p.m.

  • This sounds like such fun. My family loooves maple syrup. My son's birthday is Saturday, so I hope we'll make it on Sunday. Thanks for the tip...love that it's free.
