Have you been dying to show your kid your killer choctaw? Or is your son a future Brian Boitano who can't wait to lace up his skates and get on the ice? Maybe you prefer to cling to the wall as you inch around the rink once and then call it a day.
Reagardless of your skating prowess (or lack thereof), I have good news for you: the outdoor ice skating season is upon us. The McCormick Tribune Ice Skating Rink at Millennium Park opens this Friday, November 20th.
I swear, even if you are not a big ice skater (I am personally just hoping not to fall and embarrass myself), this is a fabulous winter outing for Chicago families.
The rink itself is free. Skate rentals are available onsite for $10. The spectacular view and fun atmosphere can't be beat.
The rink is open now through Sunday, March 14, 2010, weather permitting. Regular hours for the season are as follows:
Mondays--Thursdays: 12 pm -- 8 pm
Fridays: 12 pm -- 10 pm
Saturdays (through Jan. 2): 10 am -- 10 pm
Saturdays (beginning Jan. 9): 10 am -- 9 pm
Sundays: 10 am -- 9 pm
Visit the website for holiday hours and other details.
Don't forget your thermos of hot chocolate for post-skate (this is an absolutely essential part of the experience).
