Can you believe the weekend is here already? Hooray for short weeks! Here are my picks for the very best, most fun things for your family to do this weekend.
Lycee Francais de Chicago's Fall French Market. Have you ever been to a true French Market before? If not, this is a great opportunity to experience this shopping and sensory extravaganza. Over 60 vendors will be hawking their wares on Saturday and Sunday to raise funds for this wonderful school. Let your kids (ages 3 and up) hang out in the supervised children's pavilion while you browse. Highlights include dancing, music, magic tricks and yoga (all for a fee). Get more details here.
Boo! at the Zoo. This event takes place at the Brookfield Zoo both this weekend and next. Activities include hayrides, corn mazes and a costume parade. Sounds like good Halloween fun to me. Check out the website for all of the details.
Another Free Concert at The Land of Nod. This is the place to be for great free performances this year! On Sunday at 2:00 pm, Peter Himmelman will be performing live. Get there early to find a spot on the rug.
And while this is technically not a child-specific event, I think that your kids would certainly be delighted to attend the Bucktown Apple Pie Contest. Mmmmmmm. Delish. This event takes place from 2:00 until 5:00 on Sunday at Holstein Park.
Coming next week on Wee Windy City: A round-up of Chicago-area Halloween activities (which will in no way be comprehensive because there are at least ten billion events scheduled for the next two weeks). But if you know of a particularly good happening, I'd love to know about it. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
