One of my least favorite weekends of the year is upon us. In three short days, summer is basically over. Sob.

But we all might as well make the most of it while it lasts. On that note, I have a few suggestions for weekend activities for you.

If the weather cooperates, you should definitely hit the beach or a local pool before these facilities officially close down. Looks like Saturday is going to be the best day for a swim.

Have
you been to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum lately? I am wild about this place (and
will be posting more next week about all of their excellent fall
programming for children). This weekend happens to be Cold Blooded Weekend. Kids can meet some actual, live cold-blooded animals and participate in games and activities. Don't forget to make a stop at the ethereal butterfly garden while you are there.

The fabulous Millennium Park Family Fun Festival wraps up on Saturday, September 4. Swing by to catch a performance by the popular Chic-A-Go-Go, featuring a special guest. If you haven't already taken advantage of this wonderful free event, this is your last chance!

I'll be back on Tuesday -- when it will be fall and I will be turning my thoughts to wearing slippers, making soup, and raking leaves.
