Yes, and here’s why -- nowadays many couples are choosing to “plan” their own wedding to cut costs versus hiring a wedding planner who handles everything from start to finish. These same couples soon realize that the closer they get to the wedding, they really need some HELP!
Before I get into why you need to hire a day of coordinator it first must be explained that a day of coordinator usually starts their services a month in advance. There is absolutely no way that a professional planner can arrive on the day of a wedding and take over without knowing who the vendors are and going over the logistics of the wedding and reception with the couple.
Why Hire a day of Wedding Coordinator
A day of coordinator coordinates the logistics of your wedding day to make sure that everything that you have spent months planning runs exactly how you envisioned. From the arrival times of the florist, the photographer and seating of guests at the reception, the day of coordinator handles all of it.
It is important for couples to understand that day of services usually begin a month before your wedding date. So if you hire a day of coordinator a year, six months or even three months before your wedding date, service will not begin until 30 days before your wedding date. Couples tend to believe because they hired a day of planner months in advance perhaps they can slide in “extra” duties for them but that is not the case.
I strongly recommend that every couple that is planning their own wedding hire a day of coordinator. The biggest myth about day of wedding coordinators is that you don’t need one; however, planning the entire wedding without a coordinator is already stressful, so hiring someone who will allow you to enjoy your day will be worth it in the end. If your budget doesn’t call for it, meet with the coordinator anyway, explain your situation…you might be surprised in their response.
