October and November have been some busy Networking months for wedding professionals from all over the Chicagoland area. Since the wedding season ended, industry and wedding professionals have been busy putting together some fabulous events to not only network and mingle after a long 2010 season, but to give back to those in need in a very special way.
8 til 8, an exclusive planner event
October started off with Scott and Cara Nava, owners and photographers of Carasco Photography, hosting 8 til 8, an exclusive planner event, to benefit Wish Upon A Wedding (more about Wish Upon a Wedding below), which was held at The Underground in Chicago. Sushi, wine and sake were provided by Sunda. Delicious sweets provided Naomi of TipsyCake and beautiful floral by Topiarius.
Wish Upon A Wedding's Blissful Wishes Ball
Wish Upon A Wedding is the world's first non-profit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation
Wish Upon A Wedding is based on the concept that two people in love should never be denied the chance to marry their soul mate. Wish Upon A Wedding helps couples who have endured much greater challenges than the average person. This organization also takes care of all the wedding details by having wedding professionals donate their services while offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.
On November 1, 2010, over 200 generous individuals in the wedding industry attended Wish Upon A Wedding's First Annual Blissful Wishes Ball at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel in

The Knot's Night of Glitz & Glam
On October 20, 2010, The Knot hosted a night of Glitz and Glam for Chicago wedding pros at the Chicago History Museum to benefit Feeding America. This event was fabulous. Loved the Ice Sculptures by Nadeau's Ice Sculptures, Inc., enjoyed the food from Parties & Special Events by Lettuce Entertain You and the beautiful floral by Dilly Lilly. With all the mingling and networking, my business associate Bryant Johnson of Steelelife Gallery and I found time to have a little fun by taking photos at the Shutterbooth photo booth.
Kudos again to The Knot and founder of The Knot, Carley Roney for hosting such a fabulous event. *The Knot is currently hosting a virtual food drive to benefit Feeding
Networking is important in this industry because it gives wedding planners and other industry professionals (i.e., photographers, florists, caterers, and the like) the opportunity to form business relationships, etc., and it's an added plus when we all can get together to support such great causes. Until next time...
Ciao for now,
