Indians close to deal for Fukudome

The Cubs will eat most of the $4.5 million left on his contract and receive two mediocre prospects, says Paul Sullivan. It's not much, but it's something. But seriously, it's not much.

Tyler Colvin will come up. He has not figured it out at Triple-A, as he's batting just .256 and has one hit in his last 17 at-bats.

UPDATE: Deal is done.

  • Rebuilding has begun! Although the deal was more about creating room for Colvin and, eventually, Brett Jackson, I have to save I'm really intrigued by this Abner Abreu. One prospect site said he had the tools to be the best prospect in Cleveland's system, he just hasn't been able to put it together -- but he's been on a tear lately....so maybe something finally clicked?

  • That would be nice! I certainly look to you for the 411 on the prospects. Very intrigued that Ramirez finally sounds like he might be willing to be dealt.
