Extended triangle pose, or Utthita Trikkoasana, is one of those deep and fulfilling poses that I try to squeeze into every practice. It targets my hard to reach side body, lengthens my torso and opens my heart.
Admittedly, I didn't always love this pose and I believe it took me some time (years) to learn the correct alignment and enter and exit the pose correctly.
Watch this short video and hopefully it helps you to safely enjoy triangle pose.
The asana stretches and strengthens the thighs, knees, and ankles, stimulates the abdominal organs, helps relieve stress, improves digestion and can be therapeutic for anxiety, flat feet, infertility, neck pain, osteoporosis, and sciatica.
Listen to your body, use a block under your hand on the floor or modify with your top hand on your hip. Lean back in space, lengthen and breathe.
