How to create a gallery wall

How to create a gallery wall

I've been admiring photos of gallery walls and craving one in my own home. We got our house painted over the summer and I took down most of our framed photos and artwork and didn't rehang most it.  I enjoyed the clean and minimal walls for a few months, but am ready for a change.

Suddenly, all I want to do is create a gallery wall. There is a lot to learn and know beforehand and I spent much time pinning samples of beautiful gallery walls and reading tips on hanging and layout.

One thing I really like about this concept is that I do not need to buy any new art.  I used framed photos originally in bedrooms, basements and bathrooms -  they appear fresh and brand new.  It is easy to move frames around, and unexpected to mix them up.

I gravitate towards the walls that are less symmetrical and love the variety in frame color and sizes. There is so much to look at!

It was really fun moving pieces around, although I did stress a little about all the holes I was putting in the wall.  I considered using adhesive, but didn't know if it would ruin the paint and instead stuck with nails.

To my delight, my husband complimented my progress when he came home.

Do you have a gallery wall in your home?  Do you have any tips to share?
