Friday I had the opportunity to escape from everyday chaos to the spa followed by a tasty vegetarian dinner at Green Zebra. The small, minimalist restaurant filled up quickly as the night happened.
My sister-in-law and mother-in-law and I shared about nine small dishes served in a progression from Chilled Somen Noodles, Hawaiian Hearts of Palm, papaya, edamame, shiso, ginger-soy and fennel to Spence Farm Rutabaga Dumplings, winter herbs, orange rind puree, shaved celery. The meal was finished with a Duck Egg. Each bite was flavorful, unique and delicious and we left feeling satisfied instead of stuffed.
There were many vegan options and the staff was very helpful in providing dairy free substitutions.
Green Zebra was born of Chef Shawn McClain's respect and appreciation for purity of ingredients, with a specific focus on locally produced, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Since 2004, they have developed relationships with farmers, foragers, and members of our community to create a precisely focused, unique dining experience that celebrates the fresh produce of each season.
One thing is certain, you do not need to be a vegetarian to enjoy Green Zebra.
