The Candy Fairy arrived at our house last night while the kids were sleeping. She (me and my husband) took all of the candy except for one piece of candy from our children's Halloween buckets and left all of the non-cavity inducing treats, think pencils, tattoos and spider rings.
We each helped ourselves to a piece (or two) and then hid it up high where the kids could never reach or find it.
This same scenario happened last year except I hid it in a file cabinet and promptly forgot about it until I was looking for an important document in July and found a big bag of stale Skittles, melted M&Ms and stuck together lollipops (I might have done a little taste test).
This year I am sending all of the candy to our troops at Operation Shoebox.
Operation Shoebox was founded in 2003 in an effort to send support, snacks and much needed personal care items to our troops deployed outside of the USA. The most frequent response they get from the "boots on the ground" is that receiving mail from the home front is a huge morale boost!
Simply send leftover candy to:
8360 E Highway 25
Belleview, FL 34420
They also are in desperate need of travel size hygiene products for the troops. Please add any mini shampoos, conditioners or body washes you may have taken from the last hotel you stayed at and include it with your package of candy.
The troops will be grateful, and frankly think how quiet your house will be without sugar buzzed children.
