Kim Kardashian Doesn't Understand Marriage is Serious

My gut is telling me I should stay away from writing anything related to The Kardashians, yet here I am typing out that famous last name.  Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband Kris Humphries less than two months after walking down the aisle.  That doesn't even give them time to get settled in their new life together.

Today happens to be my husband and my 8th Anniversary.  Eight years ago we were young, innocent and unaware what we were getting ourselves into. Since then we have had two kids, a dog, bought a condo, sold a condo, bought a house, been sick, lost family members and worked really hard.  If Kim thought marriage is fun and diamonds, I will be the first to tell her that is not that case.  Marriage is dirty and stressful as well as wonderful and comforting.

I did watch The Kardashian Wedding Spectacular and I did not see one moment of love between the couple.  Instead I saw family members treating each other badly, obsessing over plastic surgery and an unimportant emphasis on the over the top wedding.  I am not surprised the celebrity marriage did not last.  But, I am shocked they couldn't even try to adjust to their new life together.

As one of my former coworkers pointed out on Facebook, my husband and I have been married approximately 2700 more days then Kim Kardashian's marriage lasted.  I wouldn't trade any of those days.

Even though my skin, hair, body and house isn't as perfect as the famous celebrity,  I would much rather be in a loving marriage in a simpler world.

Thank you, we had a fun day!

  • I love this: dirty and stressful, wonderful and comforting. I think it's absolutely true. Marriage is hard work, and the only way you make it through is by COMMITTING, which should be at the forefront of your mind anyway, as that's exactly what marriage is: a commitment. Happy anniversary to you. And now you've fulfilled your lifelong dream of writing about the Kardashians. ;)

Thank you. Hopefully, this is my first and last piece about that family.

  • Happy Anniversary to you! November is a lovely month to get married! (We were married on the 9th!) Yes, it is quite crazy this has ended so quickly. Have you read this piece? It's an interesting take on the whole debacle. Nice post!

Happy Anniversary to you next week! Thank you for the link. Interesting article, although I don't blame the mom. At least her marriage has lasted 20 years.
