Logan Square is an area I've explored very little. Besides some music years ago at the now closed Boulevard Cafe and an indoor Farmer's Market at an ornate theatre last year I haven't had much reason to head west.
Now I do. Tula Yoga opened a week ago near Milwaukee and California in Logan Square. Maile Wicklander, Logan Square resident and owner, thought the neighborhood needed a yoga studio and opened a non intimidating one that focuses on community and also includes family classes regardless of age.
The class schedule is diverse and the serene space is heated to a comfortable heat, not a dizzying overheat. (There are non-heated classes offered as well). Classes include Happy Hour Yoga on Fridays at 5:45, a 45 minute class followed by wine and snacks. Family yoga is offered Sundays at noon and Wednesday at 4 pm for all ages. Tula includes an appealing retail area displaying unique clothing brands to Chicago that are soft, functional and stylish.
I'm teaching a one hour hot vinyasa class on Mondays at noon. It is a fun way to start the week and perfect for lunch hour. Tula Yoga has changing rooms, a shower, mats, towels and friendly faces. I'd love to share one of my classes with you. Mention you are an Ups and Downs of a Yoga Mom reader and receive your first class for free.
Tula Yoga is located at 2827 W. Belden in Chicago. For class schedules, pricing and more information go to www.tulayoga.net.
I hope to see you there soon.
