Chicago, Spring is Coming

If you are anything like me, you are beginning to feel the need for this winter to be over.

I've lived in the Midwest my whole life and enjoy seasons.  I marvel at the beauty of the first snow and enjoy bundling up and nesting during the cold, dark evenings.

It has now been three long months and I am ready to break the rut and welcome spring.  My car is covered in salt, my winter jacket is getting haggard and I cannot put my child's snow pants on again.

As I drive through the streets of the city I see chairs, televisions and crates saving parking spaces and I laugh. Seriously, my street can be confused for a garage sale.

I am ready for the days of easy parking and the sun shining.

I'm hoping we are in the home stretch of freezing temperatures.  I am most looking forward to not having to put on the coats, hats, boots, gloves, sweaters and socks every time we leave the house.  Also on my list is to walk to school slowly, play outside and plant my garden.

What are you most looking forward to about spring?  Is it around the corner?

  • the first really sunny, warm day when you can have a drink outside... that's the first sign os spring (sorry, Robin redbreast!)

  • Sounds lovely, Megs. Perhaps a margarita?

  • Spring is near! Spring is near! I noticed this week that it is still daylight at 5 p.m.! Now that is a sign that makes me happy EVERY year! (plus the drinking)
