Is My Wine Making Me Fat?

My goal is to eat healthy.  I start my day with cereal, berries, almond milk and coffee.  I usually enjoy salads for lunch and exercise most days. 

Then the clock strikes five and I reward myself with a glass of wine.  I don't know how many calories are in a glass of wine, but once I sip it my menu plan goes out the window.  No need for bland chicken breast, brown rice and steamed broccoli. 


Instead I devour my kid's hot dog leftovers, goldfish crackers and scrounge through the Halloween candy rejects. Healthy eating suddenly doesn't seem important.

The next day I wake up feeling guilty and the cycle continues. 

Maybe I should layoff the wine tonight.

  • the wine is not what is doing you's your lowered inhibitions. and those don't just mean you are more amicable to sexual advances. anything that brings you pleasure, be it food or more wine, will be in higher demand. brain chemistry is a fun thing...don't lay off the wine. if anything, you should have another glass and not worry so much. or find healthy things that are still delicious. the way you describe your dinner as bland means you aren't exciting for it to begin with :-)

  • I want to know the answer to that question too...a glass of wine doesn't have very many calories... (less than a hershey bar!) I like better the idea of not worrying about it! A life of carrots and celery hardly seems as much fun.
