On Friday the "retro" uniforms to be worn by both Notre Dame and Michigan were unveiled by Adidas, for the September 10th meeting of the two schools at the Big House in Ann Arbor. It will be the first night game in the history of Michigan Stadium, all the more reason for the Notre Dame faithful to want to spoil the party.
Notre Dame will wear white jerseys with green numbers and gold pants. They are very similar to the uniforms worn while winning the 1992 Sugar Bowl despite being a heavy underdog against Shane Matthews and Florida. You likely recall Jerome Bettis scoring three touchdowns that day, Irish fans can only hope Cierre Wood does an impression of that come September 10th. One addition to the uniform however is a giant green shamrock on the side of the gold helmet.
As for Michigan, they will wear a uniform with blue base and a large maize "M" on the front along with vertical maize and blue stripes on the shoulders. Their pants will be in their regular maize color.
I'm not a huge fan of throwback or retro looks but for the most part Adidas did a pretty good job with both schools. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the shamrock on the side of the helmet for Notre Dame but the green and white is a pretty sweet look.
Michigan leads the overall series with Notre Dame 22-15-1 and have won 4 of the previous 5 contests between the teams.
