As Brian Kelly continues to try and transition Notre Dame back to their winning ways that have avoided them the past decade and a half, word comes today that the 2011 football schedule is that much closer to being completed.

For the first time the Fighting Irish will play Wake Forest of the ACC, a team lacking a rich history but also a team who has gone to four bowl games in the last decade.  Notre Dame will travel to Wake Forest on November 5th next year while the Demon Deacans will come to South Bend in 2015.  Wake is still scheduled to come to South Bend in 2012 but that is separate from the home and home contract that was just agreed upon.

The Irish will also play host to Air Force on October 8th next season while agreeing to travel to Colorado Springs in 2012.  The Irish last played Air Force in 2007, a 41-24 home loss for the Fighting Irish.

No, it doesn't have the glamor that the recent announcements of Texas and Miami to future schedules have had but it does tentatively complete Notre Dame's 2011 schedule.
