Head football coach Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame football program landed a major building block for the future on Tuesday as Ben Koyack made a verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish. Koyack is ranked amongst the top tight ends in the country and is currently slated to participate in the Under Armour All-American Game in 2011.
Koyack chose Notre Dame over his other finalist, Ohio State. Also offering him a scholarship were the traditional powers USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and West Virginia among others.
Koyack told Irish Sports Daily: "After going this weekend, it just felt right...waiting a few days made me realize it even more."
Koyack is a product of Oil City High School in Oil City, Pennsylvania. He is the eighth player to give a verbal commitment to Brian Kelly and Notre Dame in the 2011 recruiting class and the fourth since the Blue/Gold Game this past Saturday.
From the video below you will see he brings a huge body to the table while having great speed for his size. Welcome to Notre Dame, Ben Koyack!
