Notre Dame Adds 9th Commitment: Matt Hegarty

By Nick Shepkowski:

Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly continues his hot streak in the recruiting ranks as he added his ninth commitment to the 2011 recruiting class earlier this week in Matt Hegarty, a four-star prospect from New Mexico.

Hegarty checks in at 6'5'' and 260 pounds so plenty of room to grow for a tackle.  He is the fifth commitment this week to the Fighting Irish, continuing the success Brian Kelly has showed since the Blue/Gold game.

Rumor has it Hegarty is considering early enrollment at Notre Dame next January which would allow him to participate in next year's spring practice.

Scout ranks Hegarty as a top ten offensive tackle in this years class and credits his body control, balance, pass protection, and quickness of the ball as his strengths.  It says his main room for improvement comes in size.

You can see his impressive highlight tape from camp at Oklahoma University below, he was named the Offensive Lineman MVP at that specific camp and the video shows why.

Welcome to Notre Dame, Matt Hegarty!
