In 2009 it was Notre Dame taking on Washington State in the
Alamodome while in 2010 we can look forward to the Irish playing Army
in the first football game at the new Yankee Stadium.  Word has now
come out that the Irish will take on the University of Maryland at
FedEx Field in Washington, DC on November 12, 2011.

FedEx Field
is home to the NFL's Washington Redskins but it has not yet been
released if they will also be playing in their home stadium that
weekend.

Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick noted that
the location of game, opponent, and size of the venue (91,704) made it
an optimal location to hold the now regular "neutral site home game".

Redskins
owner Daniel Snyder has been succeeding in bringing big-time college
football to Washington, DC.  Boise State will take on Virginia Tech
early in the 2010 season while Indiana and Penn State will also meet
there later in the year.  In the past Virginia Tech has played USC and
Notre Dame played their 1998 contest against Navy at FedEx Field.

The
scheduling brings the 2011 game count to eleven with one more true home
game to be found, weekends of October 8th and November 19th remain open.
