Quinn has had a disappointing career to date in the NFL, playing in only 14 games during his first three seasons in the league. Quinn has thrown 10 touchdowns to 9 interceptions with a quarterback rating of 66.8.
This trade gives Brady Quinn a fresh start with the Denver Broncos where he will be given the opportunity to start, likely competing with Purdue product and former Chicago Bear, Kyle Orton.
Will Quinn beat out Orton? I can tell you who the better player in college was but that has very little to do with anything at this point. I can tell you from following the Chicago Bears for years that if Brady doesn't beat out Kyle Orton for the starting job then Brady will begin to rival Rick Mirer in professional quarterbacking ability.
On the reverse there may be a way this has yet another Notre Dame connection. The Browns signed Jake Delhomme to a two year deal over the weekend. Everyone knows Delhomme is on the finishing holes of his NFL career and going forward he won't be the Browns answer. The other quarterback they acquired this offseason was Seneca Wallace, formerly of Seattle.
Neither of these men will ever be a game breaker in the NFL that brings the Browns to the level their fans hope they reach. The Browns are very much still in the business of picking up a quarterback of the future and Jimmy Clausen sounds to be available when they pick 7th overall.
