National Military Appreciation Month 2013

In 1999, Congress designated May as National Militay Appreciation Month.  As the month progresses, I will be adding posts and ramblings, news items and information of interest by myself and others. To those of us who have a loved one or friend who is serving or has served, appreciating our military men and women is something we do every day of every month. Here's hoping that among these articles and links, you find a measure of the pride we feel, an understanding of some of the issues our military and their families face or even just a glimmer through the lens by which we view the world.

"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war" Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

    Denise Williams

Born and bred in Chicago, now living in the wilds of far suburbia. I'm a Gold Star Mom, a wife and step-mom to two terrific boys. My views are generally politically and socially conservative, though I am far from a Party line Republican. I believe in this country, our Constitution and above all, in the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I believe our government is supposed to serve the people, not tell them how to live. To me, this is just common sense, but since it seems to be a minority opinion, it has become "Uncommon Sense".
