How Hating Trump Makes You An Accessory To Terror

How Hating Trump Makes You An Accessory To Terror
Your hating Trump makes you an accessory to terror. Does that sentence make you uncomfortable? Probably not, because you think the accusation is ridiculous and doesn’t apply to you. Read on, dear Trump haters and never-Trumpers, and see how your words and actions supply the justification for that sentence. You hate Trump. You’re publicly pleading... Read more »

Why Iran Is Our Enemy

Why Iran Is Our Enemy
Iran is our enemy. Long before the first Gulf War, even before the taking of the American Embassy in 1979, Iran has been our enemy. If you want to try to justify their hatred of us for the US support of the Shah fifty years ago, you’re not going far back enough in history. And... Read more »

You Hate Trump

You Hate Trump
I get it. You hate Trump and all you believe he stands for. You even let that hate seep over onto those you deem to be his supporters. Guess what? Lots of people don’t “support Trump”, they support America defined as the opposite of Soleimani and all he represented. But we’ll get back to that.... Read more »

Letter To The Family of Lee Rigby

I know your pain and to the parents, I understand there is no loss like that of a child. Two and a half years ago my son, too, was brutally murdered by Muslim fanatics. Truly, I understand. You have just begun a journey no one ever wants to take. Make no mistake this journey of... Read more »

British Soldier Killed in London

British Soldier Killed in London
A British soldier was killed, hit by a car then the knife-wielding assailants got out of the car and attempted to behead and disembowel the man as he lay dying in the street. In London. Today. When I saw the link from This Ain’t Hell, I had to click on it, thinking it was going... Read more »

Red Fridays - Thank You

Red Fridays - Thank You
This will be the last in the “Red Fridays” series, but I’m sure it won’t be the last time I write about our military and veterans. From the beginning, I have wanted to expose some of the issues and concerns our service members past and present face. I find it disgraceful the way our military... Read more »

Ft. Hood and the Presidential Election

Ft. Hood and the Presidential Election
Tomorrow is the third anniversary of the Ft. Hood shooting. It is also Election Day. Are you going to vote for the guy who called it “work place violence”? While both candidates have focused on the national debt, the economy and health care, both sides telling us this election will determine the course of the... Read more »

A Word to Muslim Rioters

I’ve studied Islam and the Arab world and the politics of the region for more than 25 years. I’ve wanted to have a conversation, to dispel the myths, to separate fact from fiction for a very long time, and I’ve searched for just the right tone that would foster an intellectual, productive conversation. While I... Read more »

Why Hate?

There are quantitative and qualitative differences between intelligence, knowledge, understanding, wisdom and hate. The former attributes infer something that if they truly exist, precludes the possibility of hate. It takes a certain type of willful lack of understanding, an intentional ignorance of facts, truth and reality for hate to flourish. The fact this indeed happens... Read more »

    Denise Williams

Views and opinions from the Gold Star, Military and Veteran perspective are generally different from those of the civilian world. Much of what I write is "their" stories, as told to me as the Gold Star Mother of PFC Andrew Meari, KIA 11/1/10 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. This is how I continue to honor the Oath my son took. I don't like labels or boxes as the former is insufficient to describe a person and the latter limits a person but if you insist, call me a Progressive Republican. I believe in this country, our Constitution and above all, in the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I believe our government is supposed to serve the people, not tell them how to live. To me, this is just common sense but since it seems to be a minority opinion, it has become "Uncommon Sense".
