The news of Robin Williams' death today hit me hard. He's been a family favorite for years and I'm grateful for the many laughs and he has provided us over the years.
Robin Williams won an Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting and, although he wasn't always a darling of the critics, I couldn't help but think about all of his movie perfomances that I appreciated. Tweens may know him best at the voice of the Genie in Aladdin, and parents may remember his performance in Dead Poets Society. Here are scenes and favorite quotes from eight of the best Robin Williams movies:
I'm struck by how many of these are poignant speeches and serious roles despite the fact that he was primarily known as a comedian. He was a versatile actor who could make audiences laugh and think.
