Storms, Mileposts and Legacies - Being part of the Listen To Your Mother anthology

Our lives are filled with milestones. Many of them we travel by, acknowledge for a few fleeting moments in time and move on, leaving them in the past as some old, weathered monument tucked away out of sight in a forgotten place. Others though live on in our souls and continue to change us and... Read more »

My kids are my drug of choice

I will freely admit it – I am addicted to my kids. They really are my drug of choice. You can have your booze and illicit drugs, I physically and emotionally need my kids. With issues surrounding work, financial pressures mounting, health declining and other issues I can’t go into, I felt the world closing... Read more »

Reflections on the past - a path of healing

Today I find myself in a very reflective mood. Looking back usually isn’t the wisest activity for me – it usually leads to a bout of depression. But this time I was able to see the healing that has occurred in the years that have past. I went to bed last night after reading through... Read more »

The dream meeting that may be more pipe smoke than reality

Did you know that since the beginning of time, there have been over 106 billion people that have lived on this planet? Over 106 BILLION! I was recently asked to write about the one person or list of people – out of those 106 billion people – that I would want to meet. Seriously? The... Read more »

A Blogger's Life: Believing

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in warm hugs – yes Olaf and I would get along just fine. I believe a child’s laugh can chase away the clouds on the gloomiest days. I believe the right bar of music can be so in tune with your innermost being that your body can’t... Read more »

Meggan Renee; Origins of a name

What is a name? Ever thought about your name? Ever want to change your name? If you are like most of the world, you didn’t have a choice of what your name would be. It was something you were tagged with at or around your birth and have lived with, for better or worse, your... Read more »

Christianity and being Transgender - Why I won't justify my transition

The position any Christian transgender person is in when it comes to finding a loving and healthy place to worship is a challenging task. All too often we are challenged to justify ourselves to the church. I once again experienced the pain of rejection this weekend and had the stark reality be ever so glaring... Read more »

Choosing a theme song for my life

The very first song that came to mind was Reflection sung here by Christina Aguilera from the Disney movie Mulan. I actually did a whole post on this song last year. For way too long the words of this song described my life. There was girl inside that only in 2010 did I let the world see. But as much as I love this song, it really no longer applies - I've let the girl out and she aint going back in.
Music has always been an important part of my life. Whether it was playing clarinet in the school band, singing in the choir or just lip syncing to songs blaring on the radio, I have always had an intense relationship with music. Music has a powerful way of allowing us to express ourselves in ways... Conquering the fear of coming out

Conquering the fear of coming out
It took a life time to come to the point of accepting myself. Fear controlled me. Don’t make the same mistake I did. This is something that I have written on quite a bit but I feel it always good to keep telling the story. ALL through high school and for many years after, I... Read more »

The love of a parent saved my life

Trans Man Chooses death. Those four words captured my attention and broke my heart. As I read the story I was struck not only that this man had chosen to end his life, but that he never felt the love of a parent and that, in it self, might have saved him, I know it... Read more »
