Lifting Chelsea Manning up in my prayers

I have been staring at the computer for about 2 hours now trying to come up with my commentary on the Chelsea Manning story that has monopolized so much of main steam and social media today.  As many of you know, I lean heavily on the Holy Spirit to help with the words you read on my blog.  At the moment I feel the Holy Spirit leading me away from this topic for the time being.

This, in no way, should be seen as though I have no opinion on the matter, but more importantly, it should be seen that my opinion doesn't matter.  I am not here to judge Private Manning's motives, what she did or didn't do, or for that matter any part of her life.

And if I am going to be perfectly frank and honest, it's none of your business either.  Private Manning has made her wishes known and I will respect them just as I asked people to respect mine when I transitioned.

Chelsea Manning has an up hill battle ahead.  We are not here to judge her motives.  She doesn't need people commenting on whether or not she is a traitor, a court of her peers has made that ruling for us.

If all she says is true, then I can not help but feel for her.  I know all to well how torturous it can be living in a body that is not congruent to who you really are.

Right now she does not need people commenting on whether or not she is entitled to medical treatment for her Gender Dysphoria, the military has strict guidelines in that regard and it is up to her lawyers to challenge them.

What she does need is a support system that she can lean on in the very trying time she has in the days and years ahead.

Like her. Don't like her.  That is entirely up to you.  What I do ask of everyone is that you respect her.

God has called us to love and from what I have seen on the web today, there are a lot of people out there falling far short of God's command.  If you believe Chelsea Manning to be your enemy, then God has called you to love your enemies.

If you believe Chelsea Manning is someone you want to support, then I ask you to lift her up in your prayers.
