Lilac Time at Lilacia Park in Lombard

On the way back from the city last week, our express train stopped in Lombard.  And just steps from the platform was this banner...

My mom noticed it and said she had been to this festival when she was a little girl.  The dates on the banner made me want to hurry back to see it because it doesn't last long.

Lilacia Park was willed to the city of Lombard in 1927 by the Plums. Ironically, plum trees weren't planted here, but rather lilacs.

Lots of lilacs.

The fragrance is amazing and the tranquility on this weekday was overwhelming.

The benches and the sound of the fountain added to the ambiance.

They have signage and garden stakes labeling all of the different varieties of lilacs and tulips.

Lombard takes their lilacs very seriously.  Even the street signs are purple and have lilacs on them!

So if you are looking for a Mother's Day idea, walk the grounds and paths at Lilacia Park.  Breathe in the blossoms and relax.
