Your 5 favorite College Dropouts

Your 5 favorite College Dropouts

With so much made of your collegiate education nowadays and needing the exact requirements to fill a position in many companies. I decided to make a little list regarding successful people who did not in fact finish college. I understand that there are jobs that require a specific qualification and this whole "dropping out" business does not work across the board, or in fact guarantee success. It does highlight, however, that the emphasis put on diplomas and degrees may in some cases not mean you are not capable of doing a certain job! You can argue my point until the cows come home but you can not argue with this list.

1. Mark Zuckerberg

Dropped out of college in order to focus on his social networking venture, you may have heard of it. FaceByte or HandBooks or something to that effect

2. Roman Abromavich

His name is synonymous with Chelsea Football Club. He pushed the boundaries in relation to oil exportation and made himself billions. He then sacked the manager and replaced him with a new one, and then he sacked him. And so the story goes

3. Steve Jobs

Opinions on Steve Jobs vary but say what you will, he is one of the greatest businessmen of our time. He used to sit in on Typography classes after he dropped out of interest as opposed to having to for college scores. We all know the myth regarding Isaac Newton discovering gravity from the falling apple. Steve Jobs invented his own Apple. If Apple hadn't worked out, he was lined up to be Ashton Kutcher's stunt double.

4. Ralph Lauren

By looking at this photo, it would seem that Ralph Lauren was always set for fame and fortune. How can you argue? He is 127 years of age in this photo and it won't be long before he needs a bigger facecloth and a smaller comb with that receding hairline but you can't argue that the man boasts a certain swagger. I bet he smells lovely too!

5. Bill Gates

Bill Gates is everybody's favorite geek. His high pitched voice and awkward demeanor probably doesn't cause him to lose any sleep on his bed of money. Having dropped out of college to start his own company and that is pretty much all she wrote!

I am not condoning the dropping out of college and please if after reading this you feel the urge to burn your textbooks, remember the other guys. It is not a surefire way of success but what makes these guys any different to you or me or anybody else. All they had was a passion to learn more and do something different. Go get 'em!
