Dave Bolland has been a consistent nuisance to Joe Thornton and company from the first puck-drop of the series on, and it was his third period goal that initially looked like the game winner. But Patrick Marleau scored his second goal of the game shortly after, leaving it up to Buff for the eventual game-winner in OT.
Admittedly ignoring the, far and away, leading scorer in the NHL playoffs, Jonathan Toews, the Blackhawks have been lead in this series by the aforementioned Dustin Byfuglien and Dave Bolland, as well as Antti Niemi.
Bolland and Byfuglien have come through with clutch goals and have both seemingly found new homes in all of the Sharks' heads. Niemi, on the other hand, as only gone farther to prove any doubters of his wrong. He now is 11-4 with a .922 save percentage in the playoffs.
The Hawks have only looked more and more dominant and confident as these playoffs role along, and that is surely a good sign for all of us Hawk fans. While this series has been exceptionally entertaining and well-played, I still believe the Hawks can play tighter and better. Sunday night's wrap-up of this series should only be a preview to the next step the Hawks take as they advance on to the Stanley Cup finals.
Let's go Hawks!
