Random, obvious lessons from Taylor Swift's breakups

Random, obvious lessons from Taylor Swift's breakups
I’ll admit that although I am not a committed Taylor Swift fan, there are a couple of truths I won’t ignore: (1) some of her music is pretty darn catchy and it’s so easy to get stuck in your head and (2) she’s so present in pop culture that it’s hard NOT to follow her.... Read more »

An Open Letter to Guys Who Stare

An Open Letter to Guys Who Stare
Dear Guys (Who Like Admiring A Pretty Lady), I’ll admit I don’t address you directly very often. Instead, I keep my posts broad and typically spend a lot of time processing all I’ve learned as a result of my love life. However, this time around, I’ve decided to write you all an open letter in response to something that’s always... Read more »

Five relationship insights backed by studies

Varying political views can affect relationships:

According to a study published in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science, and authored by academics William Chopik and Matt Motyl, when you’re living with people that have different political views from your own, your ability to accept other perspectives may be affected. Otherwise, if you always fought when discussing politics, imagine how bad things can get…

I will be the first to freely admit that as a person who writes/analyzes/fusses/theorizes on relationships, I LOVE studies and research on the topic. I mention them often on this site and truth of the matter is, in many cases, sometimes the findings can be insightful if you apply them to a larger context or... Read more »

Choosing yourself: When it's a good idea

Choosing yourself: When it's a good idea
As I allude to in my first post back to this blog, after more than four years in a long-term relationship, I suddenly found myself single earlier this year. Yes, right before the cold months and the holidays, when no one wants to be single. Now, granted, it was my choice. But it didn’t make... Read more »

Four Truths About Long-Term Relationships (And One Resolution)

Four Truths About Long-Term Relationships (And One Resolution)
So I took a little vacation lately from my story-telling life. Something happens when you get out of the 20s, work intensely in your day job and… This may be a good time to let you into a little tidbit that I’ve been trying to keep fairly quiet for quite some time now. Not hiding it,... Read more »

Couponing On A First Date? Attractive Or Not?

Couponing On A First Date? Attractive Or Not?
I’ll admit it: I’m a deal nut. Groupon, LivingSocial, Poggled… You name it, I’m a huge fan of it. (Something that isn’t so bad since men seem to find “frugal women” attractive, according to another old study) And, since my boyfriend Sav and I like to go out, I find great value in using them,... Lessons From An Inappropriate Flirt

Lessons From An Inappropriate Flirt
Because my 20s have been sprinkled with a fair share of casual dating, I haven’t really been confronted by any situations in which I’ve noticed a woman deliberately flirt with a guy I’m seriously with. The way I saw it, in those cases when I didn’t expect to be with someone long, I tried not... Read more »

Relationship Lessons: Invest A Little For The Pay-Off

There’s a strange thing about having male friends — you either know you can never be with them, secretly carry a torch for them or end up being like the best friend who has to talk them through all their crazy drama. Admittedly, I’ve experienced all three, in the craziest ways. And lately, I’ve found... Read more »
