As a blogger I write about the issues regarding dating, culture
and social issues of the common man; for me that is easy. Writing about things I observe or have an opinion
on (which are many) comes natural; writing about me is not the same! As
some of you know, I am very outgoing, but not when it comes to REALLY opening
up about me for everyone to read about.
After writing a few blogs centered on things I was doing,
like my 30 Day Challenge, I am starting to feel more comfortable with sharing
my experiences in hopes to motivate or inspire someone else! So this is the beginning of my journey toward
my FIRST HALF MARATHON (and losing a lot of weight)!
On February 27th, 2011 I will be running my first
Half Marathon! It just so happens that it is the Disney Princess Half Marathon, how fitting! The
race benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®(LLS), an
organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancers. With the support of
thousands of volunteers and participants in LLS's Team In Training program, the
® Marathon Weekend will help blood cancer patients live
better, longer lives.
As of today I am able to
run about 5-6 miles and my goal by the race is to have lost 40-45lbs. I officially started my training this past
Saturday and am already down 8.4lbs. I
am so determined to make a change in my life that will allow me to live happier
and healthier! Getting out and doing
something other than sitting on the couch and drinking wine (a lot of wine)
feels so good; I still have some wine from time to time!
As I continue on this
journey I will update you with my progress and hope to inspire at least one
person the way I have been. I want to
thank the people that have inspired me to do this and to all those that are
encouraging me! With that being said, I
have to know that I am doing this for myself!
I NEED to be healthier and set goals for me. I am sure there are going to be times when I
don't reach a goal, but that's when I have to get back up, blog about it and
I look forward to sharing
this experience with my readers and if there is anyone out there with advice or
words of wisdom, or an extra lung...please feel free to send any my way!
And remember guys.
If the Queer Guy can do it, so can you!
