"In an anonymous industrial park in Virginia, in an unassuming brick building, the CIA is following tweets — up to 5 million a day."

The Central Intelligence Agency's Open Source Center scours Twitter, Facebook, newspapers, TV news channels, local radio stations, Internet chat rooms, and nearly anything people can freely contribute to according to a report from the Associated Press.

Almost everyday something from the sphere of online social activity ends up in President Obama's daily CIA briefing according to the report.

So the question arises, are you okay with the CIA following you on Twitter, Facebook, and even Chicago Now?

  • There is a show on CBS ... "Person of Interest" that makes reference to the capacity of various government agencies to monitor all various kinds of medium ... and that doesn't include the cameras !!!

Books by Alex Berenson, Vince Flynn and others also make reference to the ubiquitous nature of communication tracking.

Whether we like it or not ... the post 9/11 America is very, very different. Like everything else in our world ... some for the better, some not so much.

  • I can't say it bothers me much, no. Now if they are getting INTO my computer, that's another thing. If all they are doing is looking at the pages I've put up for everyone to see, what's the big deal?

  • I have no problem with it. Eventually they'll get so bored they'll want to put a bullet in their head.

    The thing to watch for.....
Donald Rumsfeld headed the committee to set the HDTV standard.
Now we have no choice but to go digital on all our TV watching.
    Digital is two way.
The next time you buy a television, look for decorative pin holes in the frame surrounding the screen.
One of them is a camera.
I solve the problem by covering the whole frame in duct tape :-)

It was all part of DRs plan to rule the world someday.
    He's the Antichrist you know.

Put that one on the Presidents desk.

  • I was not aware that they cared if I was OK with this or not. It's business as usual.

  • People who don't want to be followed on Twitter or Facebook shouldn't have accounts there.
