A Florida tea party group is launching an offshoot focused solely on space policy. The Tea Party In Space, an outgrowth of the South Florida Tea Party, plans to focus on ridding space exploration of "socialism" and installing "fiscal responsibility" in American space programs.
However, the Obama administration appears to have beat the space-focused tea party to the punch. After cancelling NASA's over budget and behind schedule Constellation program, President Barack Obama proposed a public-private partnership to deliver space travel, essentially privatizing "Big Space." The Tea Party In Space advocates a public-private partnership in its platform.
I am sure the Obama re-election campaign looks forward to the day they are endorsed by this tea party group for taking action to reduce the burden of "socialism," at least in space.
