Rush Limbaugh Uses George Steinbrenner's Death to Race-Bait

"What a man he was" said Rush Limbaugh in a clip from his show. Unfortunately, this comment came after racially charged remarks surrounding the death of Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
After announcing on his show that Steinbrenner passed away, Limbaugh took the time point out that "That cracker made a lot of African-American millionaires." Classy, huh? Limbaugh also described Steinbrenner as the "classic capitalist." No doubt that Steinbrenner was man of great wealth and business prowess, and in many senses a so-called classic capitalist. However, Steinbrenner will always be a better man than Rush Limbaugh.
Steinbrenner had his faults, and certainly made plenty of mistakes, but most of all he had a tenacious dedication. He was dedicated to winning at any and all costs. Eventually this attitude caught up with him and he tempered down after being suspended from baseball.
The same can't be said for Rush Limbaugh. Day after day, Limbaugh goes on the airwaves and lies, misquotes, and purposefully antagonizes. I'm not saying that making a career out of these things isn't okay, but when Limbaugh bashes the "liberal media" and claims all sorts of double standards, he has to realize that he brings these situations on himself.
For example, in the clip below, after saying "That cracker made a lot of African-American millionaires," Rush goes on to say that Steinbrenner made "everyone around him wealthy." Then, he repeats his African-American millionaires comment and notes that Steinbrenner "fired a bunch of white guys." Does the color of their skin really matter? No, it doesn't. One cannot argue that it isn't literally true that Steinbrenner made lots of black players and coaches alike millionaires, but Steinbrenner didn't pay anyone anything. Steinbrenner paid people because he believed they could do a job and do it well no matter what the color of their skin. It's sickening to have to confront this Rush Limbaugh business when what we really should be doing is celebrating the life, good and bad, of George Steinbrenner. As I wrote earlier, he made his share of mistakes, but he learned from them. Those mistakes made him a better person. I just wish Steinbrenner could be truly honored without pinheads like Limbaugh using this situation to race-bait. What a man Steinbrenner was and that kind of man Rush Limbaugh will never be.

  • All right, from the Urban Dictionary, the definition of "cracker" from the Urban Dictionary: "White slave driver," because he would crack the whip. So that's the definition of a "cracker" in the Urban Dictionary. In Florida, the cowboys of Florida were called cracker cowboys, in modern times (which is now for those of you in Rio Linda). "'Florida cracker' is used informally by some Floridians to indicate that their family has lived here for many generations. It's considered a source of pride to be descended from frontier people who did not just live but flourished in Florida during a time before air-conditioning, mosquito repellent, and screens."
